As returned from the trim shop. Excellent fit and finish although they were unable to use the long chrome on the outer hood. We also had the front and rear windows fitted with new rubbers and chrome trim. (more…)
We stripped off all the old material from the hood so it too could be powder coated. All the wood was amazingly in good condition – we think the hood had been refurbished at least once before and new wood used. We ordered the material for the new hood from convertible specialties CA. Excellent price and very knowledgeable. NOS rear lens and license plate lens. Found a period NC tag plate from 1962 – all legal so long as you carry the current tag in the car with you. (more…)

Delivered to Terry’s. By this time we were having serious doubts over the colour. Luke convinced us that the bright blue was not the right colour. His words ‘Nah that won’t look right, what you want is a nice pastel colour like Beryl Green’. If only we knew we could have had two bugs of Beryl green in the family – this would surely not work. This is the point at which we started to question the Brunswick colour paint. The paint was matched and supplied by the Bus Station btw.

Soda blasting is something best done either in a very well extracted booth or in a very open space – neither of which applies to a garage outside your home. Basically when used dry the dust from the soda is like a very fine dust that is airborne for quite some time before settling. We used over 300kg of soda blast media from Armex and all of this had to be swept up after use. Messy. (more…)
One method of removing paint is to use plastic grinding wheels (available through Frosts). We soon realised this would take quite some time and would not be suitable for the more intricate parts such as the engine bay. (more…)
